A definitive solution when bleeding persists, there is adenomyosis, or you are done having children.
Recovery: Hysteroscopy is usually outpatient, back to activities in 1–3 days. Hysterectomy requires 1 night in hospital and 1–2 weeks before desk work.

Frequently asked questions
Do I always need surgery?
No. Many hormonal causes are controlled with medication. Surgery is proposed when there is a removable cause or medical treatment has failed.
Does hysteroscopy hurt?
It is done under sedation or anesthesia, so you won't feel the procedure. Mild cramping for a few hours afterward is common.
Is bleeding after menopause serious?
It should always be evaluated, although the cause is usually benign. It is a reason to be seen soon.
What tests do I need?
